RPL Support for Learning and Development Leaders

We help experienced learning and development leaders turn hands-on experience building organisational capability into a nationally recognised, Graduate Diploma-level RPL outcome.

Management Learning RPL is how experienced learning and development leaders turn real, on-the-job experience building organisational capability into a nationally recognised, Graduate Diploma-level outcome — without sitting through training you've already mastered designing and leading.

If you're already responsible for the learning and capability needs of an organisation or educational institution, leading workplace training strategy, managing complex learning environments, or initiating applied research to improve organisational performance, much of what you already do lines up with the units assessed through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Instead of starting a course from scratch, RPL lets a partner Registered Training Organisation (RTO) assess your existing evidence against those units.

RPL Access Australia isn't an RTO. We help you check whether RPL in organisational learning fits your background, build a strong evidence portfolio, and liaise with a suitable RTO for formal assessment. This is a postgraduate, Graduate Diploma-level pathway, so it typically suits people with extensive experience in organisational learning at a senior or full-accountability level; if your background is broader people-leadership rather than learning-specific, our RPL for Team Leaders and Supervisors pathway may be a closer fit.

Who Management Learning RPL Suits

This Graduate Diploma-level RPL pathway is built for people already leading organisational learning and capability functions, including:

  • Learning and development managers and directors
  • Organisational capability and workforce development leaders
  • Senior corporate trainers and instructional design leads
  • Education and training managers within organisations or institutions
  • HR professionals with a primary focus on learning strategy

This is a postgraduate-level qualification, so it typically suits people with extensive experience in complex learning environments who carry full accountability for learning outcomes. If you're already designing and leading organisational learning strategy, you likely have far more evidence than a resume alone shows.

What This RPL Pathway Recognises

Management learning RPL looks at real-world organisational learning leadership skills, not just certificates. Assessors are typically interested in evidence of:

  • Leading organisational learning and capability development strategy
  • Managing complex learning environments and full accountability for outcomes
  • Initiating and applying research to improve organisational learning
  • Designing and evaluating workforce training and development programs
  • Leading change through learning and capability initiatives
  • Managing learning budgets, resourcing, and stakeholder relationships

How the RPL Process Works

  1. Tell us your experience — share your work history and the pathway you're interested in so we can sanity-check your eligibility.
  2. Prepare your evidence — we help you pull together the documents, references, and work samples that map to each unit.
  3. Connect with an RTO — we liaise with a suitable partner RTO who assesses your evidence against the qualification requirements.
  4. Receive your outcome — you get sign-off where you're already competent, plus clear next steps for any gaps.

You can read a full breakdown of this process on our How RPL Works page, or browse other options on RPL Pathways.

Why RPL Beats Repeating Study

Most learning and development leaders we speak with have already earned this qualification through years of building organisational capability — what they're missing is the paperwork. Management Learning RPL means:

  • No repeating training for learning leadership skills you already use daily
  • A faster, evidence-based path to a Graduate Diploma-level outcome
  • Keeping your current role and income while you go through assessment
  • A qualification that's genuinely nationally recognised once issued by our partner RTO

Evidence You May Need

RPL assessment is conducted by an RTO. The following types of evidence are commonly discussed during RPL support consultations.

Every RPL application runs on evidence, not classroom hours. For a Management Learning RPL application, you'll typically want to gather:

  • Photo ID (for the RTO's 100-point identity check)
  • An up-to-date resume or CV covering your relevant roles
  • Position descriptions or duty statements confirming your learning and development leadership duties
  • Employment contracts, payslips, or rosters confirming your role and timeframe
  • Reference letters from employers or clients verifying your organisational learning work
  • Learning strategies, capability frameworks, or training evaluation reports you've developed (with confidential details removed)
  • Evidence of applied research or projects you've led to improve organisational learning
  • Evidence of any underlying postgraduate or degree-level study relevant to learning and development
  • Your Unique Student Identifier (USI), or the details to create one via the USI portal

We put together a tailored checklist for your specific role after your eligibility check — you can see the general version on our RPL Evidence Checklist page.

How RPL Access Australia Can Help

Once you start your Management Learning RPL check, RPL Access Australia stays with you through the whole process:

  • We review your work history and confirm whether this senior, learning-focused pathway is the right fit for your experience
  • We hand you a tailored evidence checklist so you know exactly what to collect and why it matters
  • We check your evidence for completeness before it goes to assessment, so you're not sending an RTO an incomplete file
  • We liaise directly with our partner RTO on your behalf while you keep working
  • If gaps are identified, we explain your options in plain language — usually short, targeted gap tasks rather than starting over

Important notice: RPL Access Australia is an independent RPL consulting and student support service. We are not a Registered Training Organisation and do not issue nationally recognised qualifications. Assessment decisions and qualification outcomes are made by the relevant RTO.
