RPL for Mechanical Engineering Tradespeople

If you've spent years working with your hands in a mechanical trade environment — fitting, machining, maintaining, or repairing mechanical equipment — you may already have the skills required for a formal engineering trade qualification. This RPL pathway is designed for experienced tradespeople who have learned on the job rather than in a classroom.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows your real-world experience, training records, and workplace evidence to be assessed against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification, potentially reducing or removing the need for further study.

RPL Access Australia is an independent RPL consulting and student support service. We are not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) — we help you prepare and organise your evidence, then connect you with a partner RTO who conducts the formal assessment and issues any qualification outcome.

How the RPL Process Works

1. Tell us about your experience — share your work history, roles, and the type of mechanical trade tasks you've performed.
2. Prepare your evidence — we help you gather and organise documents that demonstrate your skills and experience.
3. Connect with an RTO — your evidence is passed to a partner Registered Training Organisation for formal assessment.
4. Receive your outcome — the RTO determines whether your experience meets the qualification requirements, in full or in part.
