Security and Management RPL is how experienced security supervisors and managers turn real, on-the-job industry experience into a nationally recognised, Certificate IV-level outcome — without sitting through classroom training for skills you already use every day.
If you're already supervising security personnel and rosters, managing sub-contracting arrangements for security staff and clients, developing and implementing security operational procedures, managing client relationships and contracts, handling incident response and reporting, or overseeing compliance with security licensing and legislation, much of what you already do lines up with the units assessed through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Instead of completing a lengthy training course, RPL lets a partner Registered Training Organisation (RTO) assess your existing evidence against those units.
RPL Access Australia isn't an RTO. We help you check whether RPL in security and management fits your background, build a strong evidence portfolio, and liaise with a suitable RTO for formal assessment. Note that in some states and territories (such as NSW), standard RPL is not accepted for certain security licence classes and an Assessment Only Pathway or other process may apply instead — you should always confirm the exact requirements with your relevant state or territory security licensing regulator before starting.

Evidence You May Need
RPL assessment is conducted by an RTO. The following types of evidence are commonly discussed during RPL support consultations.
Every RPL application runs on evidence, not classroom hours. For a Security and Management RPL application, you'll typically want to gather:
- Photo ID (for the RTO's 100-point identity check)
- An up-to-date resume or CV covering your relevant roles
- Reference letters from employers, clients, or contractors verifying your security supervision or management work
- Payslips, contracts, or ABN and invoicing records confirming your industry work
- Rosters, incident reports, operational procedures, or contracts you've prepared or managed
- Any partial qualifications or overseas security management credentials
- Your current security licence details, where applicable
- Your Unique Student Identifier (USI), or the details to create one via the USI portal
