RPL for counsellors is how experienced counsellors, case workers, and support practitioners turn real, practice-based experience into a nationally recognised, Diploma-level outcome — without sitting through training you've already mastered in the field.

Evidence You May Need
RPL assessment is conducted by an RTO. The following types of evidence are commonly discussed during RPL support consultations.
Every RPL application runs on evidence, not classroom hours. For a counselling RPL application, you'll typically want to gather:
- Photo ID (for the RTO's 100-point identity check)
- An up-to-date resume or CV covering your relevant roles
- Position descriptions or duty statements from current and past employers
- Employment contracts, payslips, or rosters confirming your role and timeframe
- Reference letters or supervision reports from supervisors or managers verifying the counselling work you performed
- De-identified case notes, session logs, or client work summaries (with all identifying client details removed)
- Evidence of clinical or professional supervision, if applicable
- Professional development certificates or short courses you've completed
- Your Unique Student Identifier (USI), or the details to create one via the USI portal
